Alamo Academies for High School Juniors & Seniors

The Alamo Academies provide high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to earn up to 35 hours of college credit, academic preperation and internships in emerging high tech fields. Designed to spur innovation and transformation San Antonio, the Alamo Academies are a model of what is next in education. Emphasizing high-skill, high-demand STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), programs, the academies are an industry-driven dual-credit career and techncial education (CTE) program.

Gene Bowman is Executive Director of the Alamo Academies. Gene is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and earned his Masters in Management from Webster's University at St. Louis, MO. Before taking the helm at the academies in 2006, Gene served for 28 years in the Air Force, retiring as a colonel from Lackland Air Force Base as Inspector General. He had a diverse career during his Air Force tenure from being a T-37 Instructor Pilot here at Randolph Air Force Base, leading a cadet squadron at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, being a staff officer at the Pentagon and directing a division at Pacific Air Forces Headquarters at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. Gene and his wife live in San Antonio, TX.
